This argument has begun resonating in the world of psychology. Traditional models of psychology seek to find weaknesses and evaluate them. Positive psychology takes the opposite approach by searching for an individual's strengths. Refocusing on the positive can help people feel more capable and powerful just by finding and nurturing strengths they already have.
Many therapists utilize positive psychology practices and techniques in their treatment plans. One example of this is when a therapist asks their client to write down three good things that happened to them and the possible cause(s) for this every day for a week. The goal of this task is to help people initiate a shift towards a positive focus.
