Make your goal one that is simple. The more complicated and multifaceted the resolution, the less likely it is to stick. So start small, and make it something realistic.
Create a plan. Visualize the steps you will take to reach the finish line. Mapping out a plan will make your goal seem more easily attainable.
Write it down, and tell others. These two steps will make you feel accountable for the success of your resolution, thereby making it more difficult for you to give up on your goal.
Reward yourself. Decide on a reward that you can give yourself when you attain certain milestones. When you feel like giving up, remind yourself of the rewards you will give yourself for sticking it out, and focus on what you will gain rather than what you are losing.
