Put your self-care first
As the saying goes "Your health is your wealth" and if your body and mind don't work, you won't work. Understanding that your level of self care determines how well you will function is a game changer. If you invest in your wellness and prioritize your health you will be more efficient in all that you do including your fast paced workplace.
Set the tone for your day
One of the best ways to reduce anxiety within your day is to start your morning off strong. Not everyday you'll be able to spend a half hour finding your bliss but if you take a moment to do something small like practicing gratitude, listening to relaxing music on your morning commute, or enjoying your favorite cup of caffeinated goodness can put you in a positive mood.
Let go of comparison
One of my favorite quotes is by Theodore Roosevelt: "Comparison is the thief of joy". In this social media day and age it can be easy to get caught up in the status posts of achievements and highly stylized pictures of someone's amazing life. But don't be fooled, social media is not just a way to be connected but also can serve as someone's highlight reel. Don't fall in to the trap of comparing yourself to others. Instead be inspired by people who are doing well and use that as motivation for your goals.
Take time to socialize
Don't be upset about taking time for yourself. The culture of business will have you thinking that if you're not working you're losing but powerful women like Arianna Huffington and Oprah make it a priority to take care of themselves by being around the ones they love.
Set boundaries and learn how to say no
Setting boundaries around your business and relationships is the only way you can truly be a balanced boss lady. Learning how to say no to people, unfair deals and responsibilities that don't fall in line with you and how you want your life to go is a must; especially if you're trying to build respect in those interactions! Don't be afraid to say no; there is power in saying no and power in remaining consistent with the consequences of someone overstepping your boundaries.
Life may not always be balanced but establishing a self-care system that works for you can be your foundation that you turn to whenever things get crazy.
